According to the 2007 FBI Crime Statistics:

  • - In 2007, 17.5 million property crimes took place. The average victim of a burglary lost property worth around $2,000.
  • - A burglary occurs every 14 seconds in the US. 
The vast majority of burglaries take place during the day: between 6am and 6pm. This the time when generally people are at work, so their houses are most vulnerable.
  • - The burglar enters through the main entrance to the house, normally the front door, in more than a third of burglaries. 
  • - Historically speaking, when the economy is not doing well, property crime and burglary have increased. 
  • - Homes with monitored security systems are 3 times less likely to be broken into or robbed than homes without such a system.


    Keypads
    While only one keypad is required for activation of the alarm system, multiple keypads my provide ease of use. Most keypads have built in panic buttons for fire, police, and medical.  Other alternatives, such as portable key fobs may provide additional convenience to arm and disarm the burglar alarm system.  

    Door Contacts
    Door contacts provide a first line of defense by deterring intruders before entering your property through the most common point of entry.  Hardwired contacts are hidden in the door jam, providing an esthetically pleasing solution. Contacts may also be placed on accessible windows or interior doors where valuables are stored.  

    Motion Detectors
    Passive infrared motion sensors provide protection while you are away should an intruder somehow gain access to your home or business.  Mounted in likely traffic areas such as hallways and near staircases, these detectors sense the infrared heat pattern that the body emits. In addition to detecting a human intruder, many motion detectors are sophisticated enough to allow small pets to traverse a monitored area freely without triggering an alarm.

    Glass Break Detectors
    Designed for use where a large expanse of glass may be broken to provide an easy entrance into your home or business without ever opening a door or window, Glass Break Detectors recognize the frequency and digital sound pattern of breaking glass.  More commonly used for store fronts with valuables near the window, glass break detectors are also used in residential applications to provide earlier detection of an intruder while you are home or away.

    Asset Protection Sensor
    These wireless sensors are attached to any valuable requiring protection including paintings, flat screens and other electronics, family heirlooms, machinery, equipment and more.  These sensors may be armed 24/7 so that when a valuable is moved out of place, it triggers an alarm.  Perfect for short term rental homes that may not be suitable to have a renter arm and disarm an alarm system.
